Description: This is a survey course designed to acquaint the student with mathematical ideas not normally encountered at the precollege level. The course conveys something about the nature of mathematics – its methods, uses and roles in society – through an elementary treatment of topics such as rubber-sheet geometry, number theory, astronomy, modular arithmetic or art.
Prerequisite: C in MAT 100 or MAT 100P or appropriate test score. General Education: Quantative Reasoning
